The Church began in 1902 when 4 Eurasian families moved
into the Katong area. Later they came together with the
La Salle Brothers to celebrate mass in one the houses
there. After World War 1, in 1923 a chapel was built and
dedicated to the Holy Family.
This chapel was demolished in 1931 to give way to the
building of the Church of the Holy Family in 1932. It
underwent a number of up grading until December 1997 it
was pulled down to give way to the present 4-storeyed
air-conditioned Church, which can accommodate 2,000 worshippers.
Church of the Holy Family now has a registered population
of about of 8,500 Catholics, 4 priests, 3 permanent staff,
together with a bevy of volunteers.
There are 2 masses every weekday. One is in the morning
at 6:15am and another in the evening at 6:15pm. During
the weekends we have a total of 7 masses with an attendance
averaging around 7,200.
