There are several
organizations that cater to different major identified groups
at the Parish. They are:
Family Life Action Group (FLAG)
FLAG
provides two services.
Marriage - this
is where soon-to-be married couples are assigned to
FLAG members that would prepare them for a deeper
understanding and reverence for Sacrament of Marriage
Baptism - FLAG
prepares parents/god-parents for infant baptisms held
on the 1st Sunday of every month
Liturgy
Ministry comprises of Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministries,
Lectors, Wardens and Choirs.
Altar
Servers assist the priest during Masses
and Liturgy services
Eucharistic
Ministers assist the priest in giving
the Holy Communion to the parishioners during Mass
and bringing the Holy Communion to the sick at home
Lectors
proclaim the Word of God (reading from the Bible)
during Mass
Wardens
are ushers to welcome worshippers and keep order within
the Church
Choirs
are an organized body of singers who lead in the musical
parts of the church service.
Formation
Ministry comprises of RCIA, Religious Education, Charismatic
Group and Meditation Group
RCIA
- Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. This is
an adult program for new converts to the faith. The
program consists of classes and fellowship with other
Catholics. The course takes 1 year. At present there
are about 100 candidates following the course every
week.
Religious
Education - Catechists coordinate
the Parish Catechetical program like Sacramental Celebrations,
retreats and camps. They also plan, implement and
review the curriculum of lessons for Parish Catechists.
There are 100 Catechists and 1,001 children attending
Catechism classes.
Charismatic
Group gathers once a week for prayers.
The Youth Ministry organizes events and coordinates
all the youth groups in Holy Family Church. Among the
activities organized are fun event, masses for exams
and assistance for confirmation kids.
Service Ministry comprises
of Ministry of Sick, St Vincent De Paul Society, Elders
Group, Holy Family Connections, Art and Environment
and the Canteen/Function Room committee.
Ministry
of Sick is a group of people who visit
the sick at home and in hospitals
St.
Vincent De Paul Society (SVDP)
- assist the poor and needy with financial assistance
and education funds.
Elders
Group organizes
activities for elders and they meet once a month.
They also run a 'Thrift Store' that sells recycled
articles at nominal price.
Art and Environment
is a service group that is responsible for the various
decorations and fittings for the church especially
during festive and solemn occasions or celebrations.
Canteen/
Function Room
- This service group is
responsible for the smooth running of the canteen
during Sundays and the bookings for usage of the function
room for wedding receptions or any other activities
where the room is used.
Bulletin
- A weekly bulletin is distributed during the weekend
masses. It informs the parishioners of any of the
Church's up-coming events. Holy Family Connections
is the parish's own newsletter that is published bi-monthly,
which is a more detailed write-up informing parishioners
of recent events that had happened, and any particular
ministry or individual at Church.
Missionary
Ministry comprises of Chinese Group, Filipino Group
and Peranakan Group
Chinese Group
- Caters to the needs of the Mandarin and dialect
speaking. There is a weekly mass on Saturday evening
at 8:00pm in Mandarin.
Filipino Group
- They join the SVDP in visiting homes, helping the
Aged by entertaining with songs and dancing. They
have bible sharing on the 4th Sunday of every month.
Peranakan Group
- A Catechist who is fluent in dialects and Malay,
conduct bible sharing to the elderly weekly on Thursday
afternoon.
There
are 13 Neighborhood groups in the Parish. The aim of
the SCC is to become church in the neighborhood. By
coming together regularly for fellowship and prayers,
they hope to witness to their faith and be a service
to those in need.
