Society of St Vincent De Paul (SSVP)
Founded by Blessed Frederic Ozanam in the spirit of charity of St Vincent de Paul, we are a lay Catholic organization of men and women offering person-to-person service to the needy, visiting them in their homes. Our Conference was established in 1954 with the mission to be in Christ-like love and compassion to aid, affirm and evangelize to our friends in need.
Our Society meets at 8pm on Mondays (except for public holidays) at Emmaus House. Those aided and friends in need are given rations and cash aid at the start of each month. We depend on the monthly second collection at weekend Masses and other donations to finance our mission.
On the side, we also usually visit a welfare home monthly as a group to render service and treat the residents to a few snacks and token gifts while entertaining them with catch hymns and oldies. Our parish’s Filipino group often joins us in these visits.
