PARISH YOUTH PLAN
YOUTH, THE HOPE OF THE CHURCH
Introduction
(a) Recent survey work carried out with the young people of the parish reveal that a majority of them only come to church at weekends. Almost half are 'too busy' to commit more. A high proportion identified that a coffee club, games and movies might draw them closer in. It is significant that the activities identified represent good, clean fun but not necessarily spiritual or religious in nature.
(b) Young people in general are increasingly saying yes to theme-led activities that enable them to connect with their peers and the wider community but are reluctant to go with the specifically spiritual activities of the past. This is not an obstacle. Through an appropriate approach to youth programming (articulated below), the Youth Sub-committee feels that a focussed Youth Plan that is organic and youth-led can nevertheless facilitate a spirit-filled encounter through engages the youth with their brothers and sisters in Christ.
(c) As such the proposed mission of the Parish Youth Plan is: The young people of our parish are facilitated to become Christians filled with the love and the light of Christ, active and involved parishioners, responsible members of the community, and patriotic and committed citizens.
